Kathy Lou Kronenberger
A personal injury resulting in chronic low back pain lead to my introduction to Pilates. After
three months of private Pilates training, not only was my back pain gone, but I was so excited
about Pilates and sharing the benefits with others, I decided to go through a formal training
program.
I became very involved at Novato Pilates, eventually becoming manager of the studio for a year
and a half, and when it came up for sale, I decided to take that final leap and become owner
myself.
My mission is to offer the best Pilates instruction to the community, in a friendly and open
atmosphere.
Instructors
Christina Gere
Christina was introduced to Pilates in 1995 in Del Mar, California, and used it as an athletic
performance enhancement while training for a marathon.
Years of studying Eastern healing traditions as well as many non traditional esoteric modalities
such as Thai massage, Scaravelli yoga, Tai-Chi & QiGong, Vipassana meditation and
‘Optimum Health’ nutritional studies cultivated her personal philosophy on health: Pilates and
Yoga is a high-energy partnership of physical and spiritual exercise techniques to revitalize the
mind and body.
She received her Pilates certification in summer 2004 from Susan Branum and Mercy Sidbury
through Yoga in Motion Studio in Napa, California. Susan Branum was certified by Physical
Mind Institute under the direction of Michele Larsson and Madeleine Black in San Francisco.
Gretchen Turzo
Gretchen is an ITT certified Pilates instructor who trained with some of the leading Pilates
professionals in the Bay Area including Madeline Black, Jean Sullivan, Debra Schubert, Jorg
Chabowski and Leah Putnam. At a young age, Gretchen was a competitive gymnast later
moving on to dance, yoga, and competitive sports. She has found her calling as a Flying
Trapeze artist and Pilates instructor in the Bay Area . Gretchen truly enjoys working with others
as they learn mind-body awareness and use it to further their health and life endeavors.
Rose Thomas
Rose Thomas became an ITT certified Pilates instructor in 2005, and has trained with Madeline
Black, Jean Sullivan, Debra Schubert, Jorg Chabowski, and Leah Putnam. She is currently
studying for her ITT Masters Instructor certification under Madeline Black. Rose’s fitness
background started 30 years ago in martial arts--she has earned black belts in Tang Soo Do
and Tae Kwon Do, and was a lead instructor for a Tae Kwon Do club of more than 100
members in the early 80’s. She has been active in various physical pursuits since then,
including biking, hiking/backpacking, weight lifting and group fitness classes, and currently has
a consistent Iyengar yoga practice.
Rose works closely with her clients and tailors each session to their particular needs,
addressing both long-term goals and immediate/acute issues, identifying disfunction and
consistently working towards correcting imbalance. Her overall goal is to provide clients with
the tools and training to move confidently, freely, and pain-free in their daily lives.
Beverly Scholar
Beverly is a Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis trainer as well as a Wellness Consultant.
Known for her ability to make difficult movement easy to learn and a joy to do, she has a way of
putting her clients at ease, while building self awareness and confidence. Though she is playful
in class, she is a seasoned teacher with a keen eye for body alignment. Because she carefully
guides and corrects as she teaches, improvement is rapid. She knows how to bring out the
best in each person. Whether you take Gyrotonic training privately with Beverly, or take her
Gyrokinesis classes, you'll definitely see and feel results. Clients say they feel uplifted in spirit,
taller in body, and energized by the end of class.
Besides training, Beverly has a background in the Healing Arts. Her work also includes
Acupressure Energy Balancing, Nutritional Counseling, and Emotional Stress Release. She
worked with a medical MD for over 10 years doing this work for patients. Please go to her
